LETTER FROM THE EDITOR-Lydia Richardson Editor-in-Chief

What is the world coming to? No really what is it coming to? As we steer ourselves in a new direction here at Theewalkingparty.xom, we aim to improve ourselves, expand ourcontent and reach our readers in ways that we never have before.

As we grow as a staff, I can't help but wonder why our personal and corporate growth isn't mirrored in the world. We are at a time when gas prices are at an unbelievable high rate, the economy is in a quagmire, and our incessant abuse of the planet has resulted in uprecedented and unseasonal natural disasters.

I say this not to be dreary, but to stress that young black Americans need to be more conscious of the world we live in and our activities in it. Enjoy life but do so responsibly. Exercise, recycle, and if possible look into buying an environmentally friendly hybrid, or start a carpool with your friends. Just as in relationships, friendships and business arrangements, you can only expect to get what you give, so show the earth a little love. You may be suprised to see what you get in return...

As the summer gets hotter and stickier clothes come off and your mind may wonder alittle, but don't become so sedated by the temperature that you cease to be aware of the world around you. The political climate is also heating up, and this November one of the most groundbreaking presidential elections will take place. With a failing economy a debilitating war and numerous other foreign and domestic dilemmas, it is more that crucial for the 18 to 34 segment of the population to vote. Go vote. Do it! for the first time in history and African American man is a serious contender for the presidency. That in itself is proff enough that you can make a change in your own life if you want to. Theewalkingparty is changing for the better and we hope that as we evolve our readers will grow and change with us.
